Glitter Jar

Our mind can be busy or unsettled like the glitter in a jar or snow flakes in a snow globe. You can make your own glitter jar, which you can use to communicate how your mind is feeling. You can also shake and watch the glitter in the jar, paying attention to what you notice in that moment.

What you will need:

● An empty jar with lid
● Water
● Clear PVA glue
● Glitter!

To make your glitter jar:

● Pour water into the jar so that the jar is ¾ full
● Add around a teaspoon full of PVA glue. The glue will help the movement of your glitter around the jar
● Add glitter to the jar – use different coloured glitter if you wish
● You can then place the lid on the jar and make sure its on tight enough (so that the water doesn’t spill!)

Top tip: You can shake the glitter jar and count your breaths in and out as the glitter moves and settles in the jar. Or you can also use a snow globe, that can be used as a communication tool of how your mind feels.

For example:

● Your mind could be calm and still with the snow at the bottom of the globe;
● Your mind could be busy with the snow flakes moving in the globe;
● Your mind could be calming and settling down like the snow flakes sinking to the bottom of the snow globe.
